This course will cover all of the essential information, techniques and tips to help keep yourself and others safe from violence. The curriculum is designed specifically for clinical staff and support staff working in an ambulatory/outpatient site setting.

Unlike a large or community hospital setting, ambulatory and outpatient sites have less resources at hand to manage safety, security and violence. Typically, there is no security staff at these sites and practice staff must deal with security and violence related situations as they arise.

Without the proper training and skill sets, staff in a practice can unwittingly miss danger signs or fail to respond properly to an escalating patient. This course will arm you with lessons that you can immediately apply on a daily basis.

Further, this course is designed with your schedule in mind. Typically, time for training in your setting is limited due to the smaller staffing numbers. There are usually competing priorities for the little training time you have. For these reasons, the course lessons are divided into short, easy to understand sections- most of which take 10 minutes or less to complete.

Because staff may be scattered across multiple sites in some situations, it is difficult to get everyone in the same room for training at the same time. That's where this course fits in perfectly. You can start this course when you have time and take your time to get it done.
